چکیده

The influence of the nuclear medium on lepto-production of hadrons was studied in the HERMES experiment at DESY in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering of 27.6 GeV positrons off deuterium, nitrogen and krypton targets. The differential multiplicity for krypton relative to that of deuterium has been measured for the first time for various identified hadrons (π+, π−, π0, K+, K−, p and p̄) as a function of the virtual photon energy ν, the fraction z of this energy transferred to the hadron, and the hadron transverse momentum squared p2 t . The multiplicity ratio is strongly reduced in the nuclear medium at low ν and high z, with significant differences among the various hadrons. The distribution of the hadron transverse momentum is broadened towards high p2 t in the nuclear HERMES Collaboration / Physics Letters B 577 (2003) 37–46 39 medium, in a manner resembling the Cronin effect previously observed in collisions of heavy ions and protons with nu-

Polarized light flavor sea–quark asymmetry in polarized semi–inclusive processes

We propose new formulas for extracting a difference of the polarized light sea–quark density, ∆d̄(x)−∆ū(x), from polarized deep–inelastic semi–inclusive data. We have estimated the value of it from the present experimental data measured by SMC and HERMES groups. Although the data might suggest a violation of polarized light flavor sea–quark symmetry, the precision of the present data is not enou...

M ar 2 00 7 Energy dependence of π ± , p and p̄ transverse momentum spectra for Au + Au collisions at √ s NN = 62 . 4 and 200 GeV

We study the energy dependence of the transverse momentum (pT) spectra for charged pions, protons and anti-protons for Au+Au collisions at √ sNN = 62.4 and 200 GeV. Data are presented at mid-rapidity (|y| < 0.5) for 0.2 < pT < 12 GeV/c. In the intermediate pT region (2 < pT < 6 GeV/c), the nuclear modification factor is higher at 62.4 GeV than at 200 GeV, while at higher pT (pT > 7 GeV/c) the m...

فاکتور کردن QCD و پاد تقارن‌های CP در واپاشی‌های هادرونی B→Kπ

This paper studies improved factorization method, in the heavy quark limit, for B→Kπ decays. Paying attention to strong interaction scale AQCD, and calculating all parameters depending on that in the particular scale (the same as µ ) show that we can obtain better and comparable results for branching ratios such as BR(B0 → K0 π 0 )=8.5+0.7-0.5 × 10-6 and BR(B →π k0)=2.26+0.17-0.15 × 10-5, and...

Recent Results on Particle Production from Opal

Three recent OPAL studies are presented in which the fragmentation process in quark and gluon jets and in identified up, down and strange flavour jets is studied. The first is a measurement is of charged particle, π, η and K multiplicities in quark and gluon jets. No evidence is found for a particle species dependent multiplicity enhancement in gluon jets. In another study leading π, K, K S , p...

Transversity Single Spin Asymmetries ∗ Daniël Boer

The theoretical aspects of two leading twist transversity single spin asymmetries, one arising from the Collins effect and one from the interference fragmentation functions, are reviewed. Issues of factorization, evolution and Sudakov factors for the relevant observables are discussed. These theoretical considerations pinpoint the most realistic scenarios towards measurements of transversity. T...
